Welcome to the first entry of the
SCC cyber gallery. And what better photographer to begin with than Henri Cartier-Bresson, one of the most significant photographers in its history. Born in 1908, Cartier-Bresson transformed photography's capability to record, into an art form. Known for his decisive moments on film, Cartier-Bresson believed waiting and being quick were the keys to capturing the moment.

Honing in on shadows and settings, he would wait for the moment with his Leica on hand. Like so many passionate photographers who are driven to do more, Henri Cartier-Bresson embraced more than image making by founding Magnum Photos, a co-operative photojournalism agency based in New York and Paris.

Living a full and fruitful life, he passed away in 2004. For more information check out the HCB Foundation in French or English:
