JASON WHEATLEY
"I am uninterested in painting things the way they are, I would rather gather the mundane bits of reality around me, dust them off and polish them until they shine fantastic."

This young artist leaves his mark in a uniquely emphatic way. I'm not intentionally bringing still lifes into the gallery blog but I've been studying still lifes for about a year now, as a topic both as a subject in art as well as in my own work, based primarily on the fact that I thought they were THE most BORING subject ever to look at as a kid. These days I seek out unconventional definition to this traditional genre. The titles are humorously given, while the Audubon-type painting of still life meets wildlife provides an opportunity to re-define exotic animals and mundane household objects.
